Summary

This woodland is situated near Moira in the heart of the National Forest and is named after an old mill that once stood on the site. The mill pools are long gone but a number of ponds, streams and springs remain. Retaining the heritage of this site and the links with the local community have been important in designing this long, thin wood with native broadleaf trees. Nearby is Pit Prop Wood, named for the timbers used in coalmining.
